DI Oliver Schmerold, born in 1969, graduated at the Vienna Technical University in 1995 and started his career as head of the Information & Telecommunication department of the Austrian consultancy agency for the European Research & Development programmes. In 1999 Schmerold started working for Alcatel-Lucent, where he gained experience in four different divisions, the latest being Vice-President of the vertical markets services division located in Paris. In January 2011 he was appointed CEO of the Austrian Automobile Motorcycle and Touring Club, ÖAMTC.

Stefano SARTI

Stefano Sarti is a mobility entrepreneur holding a successful senior executive trajectory in the assistance & automotive sectors. He has wide experience as a corporate leader and pioneer in the automotive industry and co-founder of 2 companies in these fields.

In 2002 he created the International Automotive Division of EUROP ASSISTANCE HOLDING and set up EUROP ASSISTANCE Turkey, where he was acting as Managing Director for 4 years.

Currently, Stefano is the Managing Director and Board member of ARC Europe Group, which encompass the totally of shares of ARC Europe SA, ACTA – France, Starter24, – Poland, ARC Europe Insurance Brokerage and majority of shares in  RAMK – Russia. While acting as Managing Director since 2014, Stefano focused on the diversification/innovation strategy of the group and securing and protecting its current business.

He is a graduate from Turin and Aix-en-Provence Universities acquiring a Master degree in Business and Economics. Italy is in his DNA, but he remains a global soul and true contributor for diversity.

Stefano lives in Brussels, where he shares his quality time with his wife and their two children. He is passionate about sports, a keen amateur of Impressionist Art and he loves to play the piano and international travel with his family.

Kirsty LLOYD-JUKES

As Membership Services Director, Kirsty Lloyd-Jukes is responsible for a number of additional services that the AA provides for members and non-members in adjacent markets to the core Roadside Assistance business. Kirsty was appointed ARC Europe Group Board Member in December 2016.

These comprise four main areas. Firstly, the AA’s market leading driving schools, operating under the AA and BSM brands. Secondly, the AA’s propositions in the Motoring Services market, including Car Inspections, Road Signs, the AA’s used car buying site and service and repair aggregator. Thirdly, the AA’s Media assets, including the AA’s atlas and travel publishing business, the Hotel Inspections and accreditation service, the range of “Car Essentials” products, and the AA’s online route planner and traffic watch services. Lastly, Kirsty also develops and directs the AA’s strategy in the Connected Car sphere.

Within this role, she is responsible for identifying and incubating new product launches and partnerships for the AA, for example electric vehicles.

She is also Group Strategy Director for the AA.

Kirsty joined the AA in June 2014 as the Strategy and Innovation Director as part of the team spearheading the AA’s flotation as a plc in July 2014. She took on the Membership Services role in November 2014 to support the AA’s strategy of providing more value to Roadside members and revitalizing the membership proposition.

Kirsty joined the AA from Oliver Wyman, the global Strategy and Management Consultancy where she worked as a Principal in the Consumer Services division.

She graduated from Oxford University with a MA in Classics.

Francesco MAZZONE

Currently CEO of ACI Infomobility and Director of Operations of ACI Global Spa, the Assistance Company owned by ACI (Automobile Club d’Italia). Member of Board of Directors of ARC Europe Group and Europe Net.

Previously Director of Car Sharing Business Unit (2014-2016), Director of Mobility Information at ACI Global Spa and Member of Board of Euro NCAP until 2013.

In the period 1998 – 2013 has been working at ACI as Programme Manager in the fields of Traffic Information, Consumer Testing, Road Safety, developing new assessment/awareness campaigns (eg. EPCA for pedestrian crossings) and services (under the brand “Luceverde” for Traffic Info).

Author of several publications and speeches in the above domains.

Frits VAN BRUGGEN

Frits van Bruggen (1959) has been the president and CEO of the ANWB since August 2014 but started working for the club in 2010 as a member of the executive board responsible for Assistance and Insurance.

Frits graduated in economics from Groningen University. After graduating, he worked at the ING Group for 25 years. During the last 10 years he was the director of RVS and Nationale -Nederlanden. Along with the change of leadership in ANWB the club implemented a new type of executive board. Instead of 3 members this now consists of an 9-member executive board, chaired by Frits.

Frits is a member of the FIA World Council for Automobile Mobility & Tourism, a member of the FIA Euroboard , a member of the ARC Europe board and the board of GMA.

Frits is married with Ellen and they have three grown up children: two boys and one girl. In his spare time Frits enjoys the company of his family. He also likes running, skiing and playing golf.

Jorge F. DELGADO

Currently CEO at the Royal Automobile Club of Spain (RACE), a Telecommunications Engineer by Trade and holding a General Management Program by the IESE Business School, Jorge is an international executive specialized in business turnarounds and has been at the helm of the transformation of the Club that has taken place over the last four years.

Under his tenure, RACE has gone back to significant membership growth after a long period of decline, thanks to the introduction of a revolutionary 21st century offer, the principles of which were shared at the 2016 FIA General Assembly in Paris, the Region I Spring Meeting in Tunisia and the 2016 & 2015 FIA Universities.

Furthermore, in just three years, the Club has moved from 8th place to becoming the largest roadside assistance organization in Spain with more than 8.000.000 customers, delivering 50% turnover growth and 435% EBITDA increase.

Prior to RACE, Jorge has held several senior leadership positions in blue-chip multinationals including:

  • British American Tobacco where he held the COO role for Iberia and was Head of Lucky Strike for the Greater Europe (a territory that spanned from Lisbon to Vladivostok and Helsinki to Azerbaijan).
  • Altadis/Imperial Tobacco where he led the Fortuna Brand turnaround for Iberia and played a significant role in its relaunch in the French
  • Procter & Gamble where he was in charge of the introduction of Bold 2in1 in both Spain and Portugal

He has also led the renaissance of RACE’s involvement in Road Safety, achieved through either world class partnerships (like the RACE-Red Bull Young Drivers Academy) or by the introduction of Road Safety as part of the CSR initiatives of Large Corporations. (Gas Natural, with a project spanning 21.000 employees, and bringing business to clubs in Colombia, Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, or Moldova, is a good example).

Passionate about Motorsports, – and further to his current roles in RACE and the Jarama Race Track, – as Head of Lucky Strike for Europe he had strong involvement with the BAR (British American Racing) – Honda Formula One Team, and as the Manager for the Fortuna Brand he was directly responsible for the Fortuna Racing Team MotoGP and 250cc Sponsorship Programmes.

His governance experience spans 10 years, currently in the Boards of Directors of several organizations including RACE, GER, UNACSA, RASISA, ASEGURACE and ARC Europe Group. He has also had the honour of serving in the Board of Directors of British American Tobacco Iberia, (with significant exposure to the regulatory authorities) the Commercial Management Board of British American Tobacco for Greater Europe and holding the Chairmanship of Team Technologies S.L.

Having lived in several countries across Europe, Jorge is currently based in Madrid (Spain) happily married to his lovely Czech wife – also a recognized international executive – and enjoying his time with his two sons, aged 2 and 5.

Jürg WITTWER

Dr. Jürg Wittwer is CEO of the Touring Club Suisse, the leading automotive club in Switzerland with 1.5 million members. Next to providing road side assistance, the club is a leading force in all aspects of todays individual mobility – from providing cargo bikes to teaching road safety at schools and to providing driving trainings at its centers. The Touring Club Suisse also a major political voice participating in shaping the future of mobility in Switzerland. Dr. Wittwer was appointed ARC Europe Group Board Member on October 5th, 2016.

He completed his studies at the University of St. Gallen with a doctorate. During and after his studies he worked as a freelance journalist. In 1995 he was appointed assistant to the Executive Director of ELVIA Travel Insurance Group, world’s leading travel insurance provider. In 1997 he took over as head of the subsidiaries in Spain and Portugal and, in 2000, he was appointed member of the board of directors of the USA and Canada subsidiaries. On returning to Switzerland in autumn 2002 he took over as CEO of Mondial Assistance (Switzerland) the leading provider of consumer speciality insurance and assistance. In 2010 Jürg Wittwer joined the executive board of Allianz Switzerland as head of distribution of all channels, managing a sales force of over 1000 representatives.

In addition to his activities at TCS, Jürg Wittwer is involved in the field of education with presentations and lectures on the subject of intercultural communication and, among others, has lectured at the Virginia Commonwealth University (Richmond USA), the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, the International Institute of Higher Education of Morrocco and the Executive School of the University of St. Gallen. He authored the book “I am the Monkey” on managing in foreign cultures.

Jürg Wittwer (born 1967) is married, father of two children and lives in Geneva. He grew up in the Bernese Oberland and in Burkina Faso (West Africa) and today likes to spend his leisure time with his family in the mountains and in renovating their mountain chalet. He is also an accomplished photographer dating back to his time as journalist.

Guntram KLEINE

Guntram Kleine joined ADAC in 1986. After several years in managerial positions in marketing & sales and strategy development for membership business (B2C), he established the new B2B business line.

Another 10 years of his professional career took him abroad on secondment where his positions included Marketing & Sales Director of ARC Europe in Brussels and Executive Director in the ARC Consultancy Service Co., Ltd. in Beijing.

Between these two appointments, he has worked as Director Product Management ADAC Assistance Services for 2 years. After his return from China, Guntram Kleine was appointed acting Managing Director of the largest ADAC Assistance Call Center in Halle, East Germany for a year.

In his present position as Senior Manager International Network, he is an advisor to the Board of the ARC Europe Group, a member of the Strategic Committee of the ARC Europe Group, and sits on the Board of the ARC subsidiaries in France and Russia and the ADAC subsidiary in Greece.

Born in Bochum, Germany, Guntram Kleine holds a degree in business economics from the Verwaltungs- und Wirtschaftsakademie (Academy of Business & Administration) Munich.

Kees Jan VAN GINKEL

In 1976 Kees Jan van Ginkel graduated from the Dutch Scientific Institute for Tourism and Recreation, after which he studied Town and Country  Planning.

After having worked as a policy officer for 14 years in various departments of the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature Management and Fisheries, he joined the ANWB.

During his first years at the Public Affairs department, Kees Jan was responsible for representing the interests of the water sports enthusiasts among the ANWB members. He also represented the AIT Nautical Commission in the UNECE in Geneva. His field of focus then expanded both geographically and in subject matter. He began to do increasingly more work in the world of international lobbying and cooperation in the areas of tourism and mobility.

In 2006 he was appointed Director International Relation. In this position he is responsible for the international secretariat of the ANWB and acts as an advisor to the CEO & President of the ANWB in preparing and implementing his international agenda for ARC Europe, FIA and GMA.

Kees Jan is married to Henny and has 3 adult children, 2 of whom are twins. Kees Jan loves to play golf and he also plays tennis and skies. His favourite sort of holiday is going off with the caravan.
